1960 RUDELL STITCH Vintage Promotional Boxing Photo Card TRAGIC HERO BOXER
Subject(s) - Rudell Stitch

Top Welterweight contender from Louisville, Kentucky. Fought Gaspar Ortega, Holly Mims, Luis Rodriguez, Chico Vejar, Yama Bahama and many others.

This is a promotional photo card issued for his fight against Ralph Dupas at Sydney Stadium in Australia in May of 1960.

He passed away about a month later attempting to rescue a friend from drowning in a dangerous spot of the Ohio River. He had rescued another from near the same spot just two years earlier. He was awarded The Carnegie Hero Award medal on two separate occasions for civilian bravery.
